I understand a few of you have been having problems with Day of Defeat: Source lagging and having major FPS hits. In
this article I hope to try and help you about a bit by exploring the different tweak-settings and what they do
Remember, every persons computer runs the game differently. I found that putting the settings in the "video options/advanced"
configuration actually made the game run worse. If in doubt, just choose the options with the asterisk (*) next to them. These
are recommended for your Graphics card and should run Day Of Defeat: Source smoothly. The only one worth turning off that
would almost guarantee a performance increase is HDR lighting.
This guide provides a complete lock-down of
all effects, it is designed for low-end systems and people with FPS problems!
These settings will work well
on most system specifications, and the typical broadband ADSL/cable connections. I will post a more detailed tutorial on connection
rates soon.
